Convert between metric and imperial units — length, weight, volume, temperature and more — with the answer updating as you type.

Why conversions still bite

India runs on metric, but imperial units keep turning up: screen sizes in inches, body weight in pounds at some gyms, recipes from American sites in cups and Fahrenheit, and construction quoted in square feet while the plan is in metres.

Most conversions are a single multiplication, and most errors come from remembering the wrong constant. A kilometre is 0.621371 miles, not 0.6. Over a marathon that difference is a few hundred metres.

Temperature is the odd one

Every other conversion here is a multiplication. Temperature is not, because the scales do not share a zero — Celsius to Fahrenheit multiplies by 9/5 and then adds 32. That is why doubling a Celsius figure gets you nowhere near the Fahrenheit one, and why it is the conversion people most often get wrong in their heads.

Yes. Everything runs in your browser after the page loads - nothing you type is sent anywhere. It is the same calculation our mobile app uses, compiled to run on the web, so the two can never disagree with each other.
Enough to stay accurate for everyday use, without padding the answer with digits that carry no meaning.
Because Celsius and Fahrenheit do not share a zero point, so the conversion multiplies and then adds an offset rather than just multiplying.
Yes — choose the area category and pick the two units. One square metre is 10.7639 square feet.
